The Atlanta Braves have to be thrilled about the Diamondbacks strategy. Upton has been a monster for them. He has helped make them now the team to beat in the NL East.
So that brings us to this tweet by Jonathan Bernhardt. It was truly an epic tweet and sums it up for most of us rational thinkers about baseball, but only in a dead-on, dripping with sarcasm way that most of us do not have enough grit or scrap or whatever to come up with something as perfect as this:
Justin Upton's hit 8 home runs? I'm not impressed. Martin Prado said the Right Things 8 times during BP today.Beautiful. Simply beautiful. That tweet had some dirt on its uniform right there.

Prado is two time the player Justin ever was for the Dbacks! Martin has proven he is a team player as he bounces around from spot to spot on the diamond. Justin only has proven one thing, that every fan in AZ has already known... he has no heart! Justin never tried, he could have done these same numbers or better for the Diamondbacks but he didn't. Good luck Mr. Upton... we are all glad to see you go!
Jealous much? Lol.
I do miss Prado on our team but Upton sure is helping me forget him...
I watched and watched and watched Justin Upton stand at the plate and strike out all last season. I am not sure what his problem was, but being with his brother B.J. has helped him in Atlanta apparently. Good luck to him but I'd rather have a player go down swinging than looking. We are THRILLED with Prado! Thanks Braves!
Don't know enough about Upton to make a comment on him but I can say this D'Backs you got a Class Act!!
This is the best that J-UP has done thus far...and he always did his best in the odd years....J-UP was ready for a change...it wasn't happening with the Diamondbacks and when he said last year that he didn't care what the fans thought..that killed it. It was a good move for both him and the Diamondbacks. We are so HAPPY with Martin Prado. Best of luck to both players and both teams. Let's move on folks, it's a different year.
First Justin had his time in AZ to show what he could do. He got paid they put a right field sign saying UpTown. Justin, was given everything but the keys to the city. He just didn't show us anything. We all kknew he had a ton of potential but in Phoenix he was dead. So now he's killing it in Atlanta. Not really a shock but I love the AZ Dbacks without him. I think we have a much better team. Upton's hated all the trade and I don't think he wanted to play in AZ anymore.
This is one of those trades that was a win win for both teams. Both have flourished from it and all the fans are happy. As a Braves fan, I was really sorry to see Prado go. I think all the Dbacks can see why now and they got themselves an awesome player. We got the power and rh bat we needed. Wouldn't it be ironic to see these teams play in the NLCS? GO BRAVES!!!!
Upton has been great no doubt, but the thing that has me more excited is the "throw in". Chris is batting over .400 with a couple BIG homers. Don't get me wrong, I love Martin but I say we got a pretty sweet deal.
long time Braves fan here. Upton has indeed started remarkably and carried the Braves thus far. I'm willing to bet though after a few years the analysis will be that Arizona will came out better in this deal. This is less of a knock on Upton's character and ability than it is praise of Martin Prado. In the end class and quality invariably come out on top.
